envy 7100 printer

Hi, I have an Envy 7100 printer that’s connected to another account. I’ve performed the semi-full reset and the printer still says it’s connected to another instant ink account. How can I remove the previous owner if I don’t have any way of contacting them at all.

Hi @kd7602,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Removing the previous owner's Instant Ink account from an HP Envy 7100 printer involves a few steps. Keep in mind that the specific steps might vary slightly depending on the printer model and the firmware version. Here is a general guide.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 10 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Turn on the printer, and follow the on-screen instructions to perform a factory reset.

Reset the Wireless Network Settings:

  • After the factory reset, the printer may still be connected to the previous owner's Wi-Fi network. You need to reset the wireless network settings.
  • On the printer control panel, navigate to the wireless settings.
  • Find an option to reset or configure the wireless network settings and follow the on-screen instructions to reset it.

Remove Instant Ink Subscription:

  • If the printer is still associated with the previous owner's Instant Ink account, you need to disassociate it.
  • Go to the HP Instant Ink website and log in to the account associated with the printer.
  • Remove the printer from the account settings.

Set Up the Printer with Your Account:

  • Once the printer has been reset and disassociated from the previous owner's accounts, set it up with your HP account.
  • Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Instant Ink with your account, if desired.

Update Firmware (Optional):

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website.
  • If updates are available, follow the instructions provided by HP to update the firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
