Hi @TR-131,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've replaced the imaging unit on your HP Color LaserJet 178 and are still seeing prompts to replace it, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:
1. Check Installation
- Ensure the imaging unit is installed correctly. Remove it and reinstall it, making sure it clicks into place securely.
2. Reset the Printer
- Try resetting the printer. Turn it off, unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
3. Remove and Reinsert Cartridges
- Remove the toner cartridges and then reinstall them. Make sure they are seated properly.
4. Check for Firmware Updates
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the HP support website to check for any available updates.
5. Printer Self-Test
- Run a self-test or diagnostic page. This can sometimes help clear error messages and reset the printer's status.
6. Check for Error Codes
- Look for any specific error codes or messages that may provide more information about the issue.
7. Clear Print Queue
- Ensure there are no jobs stuck in the print queue. Go to Devices and Printers, find your printer, and clear any pending jobs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
