Hi,

I am an administrator for a school.  The previous administrator set an admin password on the printer so I can't get in to change a setting.  How can I reset the admin password on this model?

Thanks.

I just found the solution.  I went on the LCD panel and Administration, Network Settings, Ethernet. Security, Reset Security.  That cleared it out.  This similar location worked for the m604 and the enterprise 553.

You need to enter preboot mode and either perform a cold reset or a partial clean. Either will clear all data including the admin password. Refer to the Readme file for firmware updates to find the instructions on entering pre boot mode.  Support.hp.com

Odd, that runs contrary to what I have been told by HP in the past.

Those are the exact steps I have done to reset the password and it worked.

Yes I understand it worked for you, but that concerns me a little. Were all your other settings reset as well?

No other settings changed.  It only cleared the administration password on the device.
