I'm trying to reset the administrator password on an HP LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw.

The printer powers on normally and I can print the configuration and menu reports, but any attempt to access the System or Wireless menus prompts for an administrator password that is no longer known.

The configuration report shows:

  • Product Security: On
  • Default Settings: IT-managed
  • Firmware Datecode: 20150609

I've already tried the commonly recommended reset procedures:

  • Holding the lower-right corner of the touchscreen during startup.
  • Trying multiple timing variations.
  • Holding Back + Cancel during startup.

The printer always boots normally and never displays a Permanent Storage Init
