Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you want to reset the EWS password, I am glad to assist you.

Resetting the printer's network settings to its factory default settings erases the embedded Web server (EWS) administrator password.

Follow these steps to reset the printer to the factory default settings:-

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch

 ( Setup ).

2. Touch Network Setup.

3. Touch Restore Network Settings.

4. Touch Yes.

5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset

Login to the EWS page with the default credentials and change the password.

Username: admin

Password: "leave it blank"

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

this was successful - thank you for the assistance.

My inclination on setting an administrator password was because the printer is visible to the internet (in order for HP+ to function). My home office is secure and I have no need to lock down the printer. If I leave the administrator password blank is there a security risk from the WAN? I also want to allow control panel setting changes without a password.

Once you reset the password, you can set up a new password.
