I set a custom printer password when I set-up my printer. I have forgotten it. Now I cannot access the EWS. I have followed instructions to setup the printer again (press cancel and wifi buttons for 3 seconds, etc.) but still cannot access the EWS can you please share simple instructions for resetting the password for the EWS. either back to the default PIN (in the cartridge door) or to another default. Or please tell me how to find the current password.

This printer has been a problem since I got it. I may go back to my 20 year old printer. It won't print an 8.5" x 11" document onto 8.5" x 11" paper. It always cuts off the top half inch of so and/or the bottom. I can't try to fix it, because there doesn't seem to be any way to get into the "EWS" because I forgot my password and HP doesn't seem to provide anyway of resetting it. This printer has printed fewer than 100 sheets and it is fast approaching "brick" status. What a waste of money it was.

@StephenIKayak, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to make changes to the settings on the printer. We need to perform a factory reset on the printer to resolve this issue.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
