Hi @Robert424,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reset the password on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw, you can follow these steps.
Restore Network Settings:
- On the printer's control panel, press the Setup button (looks like a gear icon).
- Navigate to Network Setup and select it.
- Select Restore Defaults to reset the network settings, which will also reset the password to the factory default.
Factory Reset:
- If restoring network settings doesn't work, you may need to perform a full factory reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Turn it back on while holding down the Resume button (the button with the printer icon).
- Release the button when the attention light (triangle with exclamation mark) comes on.
- The printer will reset and reboot.
Web Interface:
- If you still have access to the printer's web interface:
- Open a web browser and type the printer’s IP address in the address bar.
- Log in with the current password.
- Go to the Settings or System tab.
- Select Restore Factory Defaults or a similar option.
HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Go to the printer settings.
- Look for an option to reset the printer or restore default settings.
After performing these steps, the password should be reset to the default factory settings. If the default password is not specified in the printer's manual, it is often admin or left blank.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
