I need to reset region code of an MFP M281fdw after replacing the T6B82-60001 Formatter Board  I obtained following Ethernet communication issues. This need to be Uk region as it’s currently now saying incompatible ink cartridge?  I can’t see anything on reseting the region within the settings or setup.
I think I need HP methodology to complete the change?

Hi @PeteJ2

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Please follow the steps below and try any one if the method to reset the printer's region:

Method 1: Via Printer Control Panel

On Touchscreen Display Printers:

Go to Home > Settings > Setup.

Select Printer Maintenance.

Select Restore > Printer Supply Region Reset.

Confirm reset.

On 2-line LCD Display Printers:

Press OK to open the Main Menu.

Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Printer Supply Region Reset.

Press OK to confirm.

Warning: You can only reset the region twice. After that, the region will be permanently locked.

Method 2: Via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Get the IP address or hostname of the printer.

Open a browser and go to: http://<printer_IP_or_hostname>

If prompted, use the default PIN (found inside cartridge door).

Go to the Settings tab.

In the left pane, choose Security > Printer Supply Region Reset.

Read and confirm by clicking Apply.

A success message will appear.

Hi Hawks_Eye,

Unfortunately my printer interface is different to the solution you posted. My printer type is a laser type MFP M281 fdw based in the uk and the formatter board is saying location is USA. It’s using a replacement board obtained from Ali express after Ethernet port failure. I have read elsewhere you have to obtain a code from support after sending them a specific Id obtained from the printer but not sure how this is obtained.

regards

Pete

Thanks for trying.

The values that you are referring to is obtained from Inkjet printers.

Please try the method 2 via EWS page.

Keep me posted.

Hi Hawk_Eyes,

Unfortunately my printer doesn’t have the security settings page being referenced in the ews example therefore I cannot see the region reset option. I have looked into each tab on ews for the MFP M281 fdw as screen shot below, and every option but alas this option is missing or hidden? Any ideas.
