Microsoft Windows 11

all the different ways I've seen on this forum, I can't seem to get any of them to work in getting my EWS password reset on my Pagewide Pro 477dw

can someone please give me the actual way to do this?  I've already done a full reset, unplugged for a while and plugged back in, held the power button and screen for 40 seconds to get to the black screen but that won't even let me get passed the "Remove Fax" prompt unless I hit yes or no.

Hi @Timmyb121681,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To reset the Embedded Web Server (EWS) password on your HP PageWide Pro 477dw, you can follow these steps.

Restoring Factory Settings

Power Off the Printer: Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.

Access the Reset Menu:

  • While holding down the lower right corner of the touchscreen, plug the power cord back in.
  • Continue holding the lower right corner of the touchscreen until the screen turns black.

Enter Service Menu:

  • Once you see the "Remove Fax" prompt, use the volume buttons (if present) or touch screen to select "Yes".
  • This should bring you to a special service menu.

Restore Factory Settings:

  • Navigate through the menu to find and select the option to restore factory settings or reset the Embedded Web Server (EWS).

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer again and then turn it back on. This should reset the EWS password.

Using HP Smart Admin Dashboard

Sign In to HP Smart Admin Dashboard:

  • If you have the HP Smart Admin Dashboard set up, sign in using your HP account.

Navigate to Security Settings:

  • Go to the security settings for your printer.

Reset EWS Password:

  • Look for the option to reset or change the EWS password.

HP Printer Assistant

Open HP Printer Assistant:

  • Open the HP Printer Assistant software on your computer.

Printer Security Settings:

  • Navigate to the "Printer Security Settings" section.

Reset Password:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the EWS password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

sorry for the delay, but I couldn't get any of that to help.  I ended up recycling the machine and bought a Canon.  after using the same model printer twice in the past about 2-3 years (first one had the same issue), I'm done with HP products.  the quality is terrible
