Microsoft Windows 11

Good morning,

I need to reset the password for my HP LaserJet M203dw printer. I have been reading through other threads and see that I need to be private messaged in order to receive the instructions. Please do so, thanks.

Hi @Restprinter,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how important it is to regain access to your HP LaserJet Pro M203dw printer, and we’re here to help you reset the password securely and confidently.

Resetting the Password for HP LaserJet Pro M203dw

If you’ve forgotten the password or need to reset it to factory defaults, follow these HP-recommended steps:

Method 1: Reset via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. Find the printer’s IP address:
    • Print a Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel.
    • Look for the IPv4 address.

  2. Access the EWS:
    • Open a web browser on your computer.
    • Type the IP address into the address bar (e.g., http://192.168.1.5).

  3. Log in to the EWS:
    • If prompted for a password and you don’t know it, proceed to Method 2.

Method 2: Restore Factory Defaults (Resets Password)

⚠️ This will reset all network settings and custom configurations.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons simultaneously.
  3. While holding, turn the printer back on.
  4. Continue holding the buttons for 10–15 seconds until the printer resets.

After the reset:

  • Reconnect the printer to your network.
  • Access the EWS again using the new IP address.
  • The password field should now be blank (default).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
