A few months ago, I purchased an OfficeJet Pro 7720 printer. However, a few days ago, after an automatic firmware update without my consent, the printer stopped recognizing new third-party cartridges. The current firmware version is from April 18th. Since I have a considerable quantity of these cartridges, I need to restore the previous firmware version that allowed me to use them. My operating system is Mac 10.14.6 (Mojave). I would appreciate it if you could provide me with a solution. Thank you very much.

Hi @Gaga1967,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To restore the firmware on your HP OfficeJet 7720, you can follow these steps.
- Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to your computer or network.
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page on your web browser.
- Enter your printer model number and select your operating system.
- Scroll down to the Firmware section and click on the Download button.
- Save the firmware file to your computer.
- Open the downloaded firmware file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
- Once the firmware update is complete, restart your printer and wait for it to boot up.
Note: During the firmware update, do not turn off or unplug your printer, as this can damage your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

"Hello, after proceeding to visit the suggested download page, I have verified that on said page, only the latest version of the firmware from April 18 of this year is available for download. This is precisely the version that has caused the problem by updating without authorization. I would kindly request that you provide me with the previous version(s) of the firmware or the one that the machine came with from the factory. I await your response, and I am still unable to use the machine, which is generating expenses and delays for me. According to European legislation, it is illegal for you to have updated my printer without my knowledge or explicit consent. Thank you."
