Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

Unfortunately, you cannot roll back to a previous firmware version.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

You did read my question I hope! The reason I wanted to rollback the firmware is because after the last update, my cartridges suddenly became unusable. Both an original HP color and a generic black. With no explanation as to why “out of the blue!” the printer decided they needed to be replaced. These were working perfectly fine the day before. With plenty of ink still in them. The bottom line is HP is doing firmware updates without the user’s direct knowledge of when this is happening. That’s why I turned off the auto update on my printer. Why don’t they allow for the user to decide when to update the firmware by a notification of firmware update available message?? I bet HP has no plan in place if and when an auto update goes bad and a whole bunch of printers become disabled? Then again the user wouldn’t know that it was disabled by an update.  Especially since as you claim it cannot be undone. It all sounds sketchy to me. I will be contacting an attorney about this.

Out of the blue! Both need to be replaced!Out of the blue! Both need to be replaced!

I'll be putting across this case to an internal team within HP for which the details cannot be shared on a public post.

Thanks!
