I am new to MAC & have had this printer for quite sometime but it was never opened. I am now trying to connect it to my computer wirelessly. It works when I have it connected to computer but not wirelessly. Does anyone know how I can connect? Apple people say beause printer is old it can't be.

Hi,
As told, indeed there is no software to perfor a such on later OS X versions but there are workarounds available..
As there is no Full Feature Software available for your printer for High Sierra, wireless configuration is not offered by its software.
From the printer select Wireless and follow the steps on screen to Reset / Restore the wireless settings.
Power off the printer and power it back on.
Ensure that Wireless Radio / Wireless is enabled within the printer's wireless menu.
From your Mac click the WiFi icon and select Show Networks, then select Join Other Network and connect to the hpsetup wireless network, allow it a miute or two to connect
Print a Network Configuration report as listed below and locate the printer's IP Address (it sould likely start with 169.254):
Type that IP from your Mac, e.g from Safari or Google Chrome.
Open the Wireless tab and click on Advanced. (or look for Wireless Setup Wizard if no such options are offered.
Select an Infrastructure network and select your router, type the password and press Apply / Save, once the printer connects the wireless light should become solid blue.
Reconnect your Mac to your router and add the printer as Bonjour under Printers & Scanners.
Please let me know of any problem,
Shlomi

I can’t even make it to the computer & when I try there is no such options that you mention.
I apologize for my ineptness. I am new to Mac (got it on advice from son) so I am having great difficulty understanding.
I very much appreciate your help though. Just wish things went as you mentioned.

Hi,
From your desctiption it seems as you had completed the first step.
Under Wireless Settings select Restore Network Defaults and pres Yes, exactly as described.
Next reboot the printer and ensure that Wireless is on, meaning Disable Wireless is still shown (do not press it, just verify it is shown).
Next connect teh HPSETUP network from your Mac as described, it should be listed now when pressing the WiFi icon > Show Network, if it is not shown there press Show Other Networks and t should be listed.
Please let me know,
Shlomi

Thank you again. However it still isn't working. Everytime I do the first part after turning printer off then on the same options appear which are scan, photo or copy. Then I hit the scan button I get wireless menu, scan to PC or Scan to memory card. I hit th4 wireless menu and it comes up enable wireless wireless settings or WPS. When I hit enable wirelessI just get Wireless radio is on.
Screen then shows Disable wireless wireless settings or WPS, I hit wireless settings I get
Print network cong page, run wireless network test or restore network defaults. I hit restore and my choices are yes or no. I hit yes& I'm right back to enable wireless, wireless settings or WPS.
When I go to MAC WIFI icon the HPSETUP never appears.
I guess I'll just have to get a newer printer. Was hoping not to do that.
I do appreciate all your time & effort in helping me. Thank you very much.
