HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

I wrote once before when having trouble reinstalling software after a windows update and got instructions on doing a root uninstall. This time, however, I cannot get it to uninstall.  It just spools endlessly (hours).

I stopped the hp software in the task manager.

I have tried removing the devices in the devices and printers area and they no longer show up there.

I tried restarting the computer and using the command prompt instructions (printui.exe /s) but I get a message that the specified printer driver is currently in use. This happens with or without the uninstall running.

I tried turning off the wifi and unplugging the usb cord.

I restarted the uninstall and the same thing happens. It spools on and on.  As does the cancel uninstall.

Thoughts?

I kept looking around on the forum and found a suggestion to try this. And it worked!
