HP OfficeJet 3833 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there !

I have issues trying to connect my new laptop Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge (running Windows 11) and my HP printer HP OfficeJet 3883 !

It failed to install because "PlugPlay failed to start", and when I checked for PlugPlay in services, it's missing.

A person suggested to install the Plug and Play services but I can't find it. Other suggestion is to install from Android (weird as my laptop is running Win11) it doen't work neither.

Any clue ?

Thx by advance

@Yuthi, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

That’s really frustrating—especially when setting up a new laptop! 😩 Since your HP OfficeJet isn’t installing due to "PlugPlay failed to start", and the service is missing.

First, try running System File Checker by opening Command Prompt (Admin) and typing:

SFC /scannow

This will check for and repair any missing or corrupted system files. After that, restart your laptop and try installing the printer again.

Since someone suggested installing from Android, they might be referring to HP Smart, which supports both Windows and mobile devices.

If nothing works, try adding the printer manually in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device, then use the Windows built-in driver if available. HP printer setup (Windows built-in driver) | HP® Support

Let me know if any of these steps help! 😊

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thx for the answer.

Indeef, the manual qet-up (what I did) works, and printing and scanning functions are Ok...

But the issue is that I am no more able to use the "scan to computer" function from the printer panel as the HPSmart applications cannot be installed.

It's a shame, I choose this printer specifically for this function.

Hey @Yuthi,

Thank you for your response.

If you are unable to use the "scan to computer" function directly from the control panel of your HP Officejet 3833 All-in-One Printer due to issues with the HP Smart application, you can try the following alternative steps to resolve the issue:

Using USB Connection

  • Connect your printer and computer using a USB cable.
  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • From HP Smart, click the Plus icon or Add Printer, and then follow the instructions to add the printer.

Using Embedded Web Server

  • Ensure your printer is connected to a network.
  • Open a web browser, type the IP address of the printer (can be found on the printer control panel under Wireless Summary or Network Settings), and press Enter to access the embedded web server.
  • Use the embedded web server to manage scanning tasks and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

Using HP Printer Software

  • If you have previously installed the HP printer software, you can use it for scanning.
  • Open the HP printer software on your computer.
  • Click Print, Scan & Fax, and then select Scan.

Using HP Smart App on Mobile Devices

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from your mobile store.
  • Connect your printer wirelessly through the app and run scanning tasks using your mobile device.

Check Connection

  • Ensure the printer is correctly connected to the computer via USB or network.
  • Check if the computer recognizes the printer.

Printer Settings

  • Update printer settings using the embedded web server.
  • Ensure all necessary drivers are installed.

Software Updates

Network Settings

  • Reset and configure network settings if necessary.
  • Avoid manual changes unless you're an advanced user.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
