Hello,

I have an older laser printer, Samsung ML-1675, which I wanted to connect to my new laptop (Asus Vivobook S 15) running on Windows 11. I tried both:

"Samsung Universal Print Driver for Windows" for W11 from your site:

https://support.hp.com/it-it/drivers/samsung-ml-2160-laser-printer-series/17156959

as well as the original installation CD.

During installation it recognizes the connected printer, but when installing the driver it returns the error 0x800f0214 The specific path does not contain any applicable device INFs.

I tried few suggestions from the internet like:

1) disable firewall

2) disable firewall and antivirus

3) Run the installer in compatibility mode with Windows 8

4) Extracting archive with Universal Installer and install it from unzipped level.

5) installing INF file from command line (with pnputil) returns the error:

Adding the driver package failed : The third-party INF does not contain digital signature information.

I removed Signature Enforcement (disabled Secure Boot in BIOS, bcdedit /set testsigning on, bcdedit /set nointegritychecks on, and I even switched off Microsoft Vulnerable Driver Blocklist)

....

and still no luck with installing the driver even in Admin mode.

So, two questions:

1) Can you confirm the digital signature information is missing? Can this be added to the installation file? I am not sure this is the exact problem, but it is a potential one...

2) Do you have other recommendations what to try? Is there a way to get my printer working again?

Note that the printer was installed without any issue on Windows 10. My new laptop is almost in virgin state (as received with a fresh Windows 11 installation), so I do not expect any clash with existing software...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi @wilczaszek

Please try to install the next driver for your printer:

Dear FerRX,

Thank you for generating a new driver installer for ML-1675. Unfortunately there old issue (error 0x800f0214) is still there. In addition this driver does not recognize my printer being connected to the computer's USB port (unlike the old one which has no issue finding it). Therefore, i proceeded with installation in the 'printer offline' mode to test first for the main error. Sadly, the main issue is also still there....

Hi @wilczaszek

1. Asking if you have a laptop computer with an Snapdragon processor or ARM processor ? 🤔

2. Because some printers are not supported on ARM - Snapdragon processor 🙄

due to limitations on Microsoft controllers.

3. For an alternative, you can try to install with the next HP Universal driver for ARM processor:

4. Once you install that software you may need to go Configuration > Printers and Add printer manually.

Dear FerRX,

Indeed you are correct. The processor in my laptop is Snapdragon X Elite. I was not aware that it could cause issues. Thanks for pointing that out!

I installed the software shared (though it was not clear in the installation process that it detected the right printer) and I added the printer manually. However, there is some communication issue because it still does not print anything (though the document is sent to the printing queue)...

Hi @wilczaszek

1. Ok, thank you for providing more information about your laptop processor Snapdragon X. 😇

2. So there is some limitations in Microsoft drivers to make printers work on that ARM laptop computers 🤔

3. Then try to install using a Generic Microsoft Printer Driver.

  • Follow the next steps to install a generic Microsoft PCL6 Class driver
  1. Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners.
  2. Click on ‘Add a printer or scanner.’
  3. If your device appears, select it to install using the generic driver. If it doesn’t show, click “The printer that I want isn’t listed” and allow Windows to search through Windows Update.
  4. When prompted, pick a generic driver like “Microsoft IPP Class Driver” or “Microsoft PCL6 Class Driver.”
