When I try to scan using the buttons on my Samsung Xpress M2885FW printer/scanner I get an error message on scanner/printer saying 'Not Available'. I can scan by using the pc to send to printer/scanner.
Many help would be welcome

Hi @Sam-DJ ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your Samsung Xpress SL-M2885FW is having trouble communicating properly with your PC for scanning using the buttons on the printer. Here's a step-by-step guide to help resolve the issue:
1. Check Drivers and Software
Ensure you have the latest drivers and software for your printer installed, as outdated or missing drivers can cause issues with scanner functionality.
- Download the latest drivers: Visit the Samsung support website or the printer's support page on the HP support website (since HP acquired Samsung’s printer division). Make sure you download drivers specifically for Windows 11.
- Reinstall the software: If the drivers are already installed, try uninstalling them, then reinstalling to ensure a fresh setup.
2. Check Scanner Settings
Sometimes, the printer may be incorrectly set up to only allow scanning via the PC.
- Open Samsung Easy Printer Manager (if installed) or use the Samsung Scan Assistant.
- Check that the scanner is enabled for network communication and set to be used with your PC.
3. Verify Network Connection
If you are using a wireless connection, make sure both the printer and PC are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, the printer’s connection might drop, causing errors.
- You can print a Network Configuration Report from the printer’s menu to verify its connection status.
4. Check the Scan to PC Setup
- Enable Scan to PC: In Windows 11, make sure Scan to PC is enabled. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Printer Properties. Check the Scanner Settings tab and ensure it is enabled.
- Windows Scan App: You can also use the Windows Scan app to test scanning functionality. You can install it from the Microsoft Store if you haven't already.
5. Check for Conflicting Software
Sometimes other scanning software can interfere with the scanner's functionality. If you have software like Adobe Acrobat or other third-party scanning apps, try temporarily disabling or uninstalling them.
6. Update Windows 11
Make sure your Windows 11 operating system is fully up to date. Sometimes, operating system updates can fix driver or connectivity issues.
7. Reset the Printer
As a last resort, you can reset the printer's network settings or restore it to factory defaults. This can help clear any communication issues.
8. Use the Printer’s Web Interface (if applicable)
If your printer is networked (connected to Wi-Fi), you can access its web interface through a browser by typing its IP address. From there, you can check or configure scanning settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
