HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.7.4 keeps saying Device Manager error

If HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.7.4 is showing a Device Manager error on your HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14-ea1000 (446B8AV), follow these steps to troubleshoot:

Check Device Manager for Errors

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Look for any yellow exclamation marks under:
    • Imaging devices
    • Printers
    • Universal Serial Bus controllers
  3. If you see an issue:
    • Right-click the device and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for drivers.
    • If that doesn’t work, uninstall the device and restart your laptop.

Restart Print Spooler Service

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.
  3. Check if the HP Print and Scan Doctor works now.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  3. Run the Printer troubleshooter.

Reinstall HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Uninstall HP Print and Scan Doctor from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  2. Restart your laptop.
  3. Download the latest version from here.
