I am getting ready to replace this newer printer. Invested in the machine, ink program etc. Turning out to be such a waste of my money. Been dealing with the issue of not printing., First it was a paper jam. Which there was no paper jam. Then no connect. It was connected. Then two routers and of course does not display the roughters. Reset machine to factory. Removed anything to do with the printer from my computer. reinstalled everything. Now I print a page. Shows it printed but there is nothing printed, Nothing in quench. Getting real tired of having to mess around with this printer anytime I want to use it. My time means something. Again, this morning been pissing around with this for just about 3 hours and no where more ahead. still need papers printed. This has cost me an appointment with my bank for a loan. HP. If your going to offer programs to diag and repair, do not just say what the problem is with out steps to repair. Very dissatisfied with this product and support. Some help for the moment and going forward, meaning when I want to print, the printer does just that. Nothing less.

You have an e-series printer. I assume you registered it with HP and either signed up for instant ink or declined the subscription.
if you declined the subscription you cannot use any instant ink cartridges. I do not have an instant ink printer. My understanding is that if you run out of instant ink (or decline the subscription) you can use genuine Hewlett Packard cartridges either original or refilled. They must have an HP chip in the cartridge.
If you subscribed for the ink service the printer needs to be online so it can "phone home".
If you did not subscribe then there is no need to connect the printer to the router and you can print directly to the printer from your PC.
Watch the reset video or perform the steps. After resetting, you generally have 2 hours to complete the setup. Decide if you want to connect the printer to the router or to print directly to the printer and bypass the router.
Many HP and other OEM printers have problems with the router when the router has two bands and both bands have the same name (SSID). Log into the modem and rename one of the bands. Alternately, contact your ISP and have them rename a band.
Or simply use Wi-Fi direct (but read note below about Instant Ink).
If English is not your native language or if you wish to get additional information not covered below, then use the HP and Microsoft support assistants. The latest HPSA supports 36 languages and can be downloaded here. Microsoft's AI assistant is in the latest Windows 10 and 11 releases and there are instructions here on how to enable the AI. Microsoft's AI assistant (Copilot) has a microphone button and supports natural language processing. |
Do not call any phone numbers shown in any of the videos or revealed by a Bing or Google search unless it is an HP site or video.

Note: if you subscribed for instant ink then the printer needs to be online through the modem or router.
You can still print using Wi-Fi direct.

Let me know if you have a flex system (Wi-Fi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated for routers.

Thank you for the advise. I fixed the problem with help of HP support.
It was so easy and have to share. When using these newer machines and you want to print. In the print screen drop down printer menu, make sure preference is set to smart hp with your printer and not just your printer. I had both. something so easy cost me so much time, energy and frustration.
