My printer stretches its output significantly on the x- (horizontal) axis (7.5%!). How can i calibrate it so that squares are more square? (Don't need super accuracy, just in the same ball-park).

Hi @herbal_t,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Calibrating a printer to ensure accurate and proportionate output is essential for achieving satisfactory results. While consumer-grade printers like the HP ENVY Photo 7134 may not offer highly advanced calibration options, you can try the following steps to improve the output and make squares more square.
Printer Settings:
- Check the printer settings in the control panel or through the printer software on your computer.
- Look for any scaling options or adjustments related to the horizontal axis. Ensure that the scaling is set to 100% or "Actual Size."
Driver Update:
- Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed on your computer. Visit the HP website to download and install the most up-to-date driver for your HP ENVY Photo 7134.
Print Preview:
- Before printing, use the print preview option to see how the document will appear on paper. Some applications may have settings that affect scaling or page layout.
Paper Size and Type:
- Make sure that the paper size and type selected in the printer settings match the actual paper you are using. Incorrect settings may result in misalignment.
Calibration Page:
- Some printers have a calibration or alignment page that you can print and follow instructions to ensure proper alignment. Check the printer manual or documentation for any such calibration feature.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the firmware can sometimes address performance and accuracy issues.
Advanced Settings:
- Explore advanced settings in the printer software or control panel. Some printers allow you to make fine adjustments to various parameters, including horizontal scaling.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
