In February 2025 I purchased a yearly service plan when speaking with what I thought was an HP rep. I had called the HP number. In March of this year I had a message on the screen and nothing would print.

Called HP and I was told I had to pay a service fee to continue to use the printer, ca $70.00. I was very upset. Placed printer in trash can. Went to local staples to purchase a different printer and was told the is a scam operation being run out of the HP help site. I was transferred last year and this year multiple times. I read on line there is a scam operation being run out of HP help line. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Chances are you were originally on a site that looked like HP but was not. Unfortunately, technology companies represent a big profitable target for scammers who create look alike sites that make you fully believe that you are communicating with HP directly when nothing could be further from the truth. I have tagged the moderators of this board, as HP takes this type of stuff seriously and works hard to shut down  sites like this when they can.

If you find the information provided useful or solves your problems, help other users find the solution easier by marking my post as an accepted solution. Clicking "yes" on "was this reply helpful" also increases the chances that this solution will help others.
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.
