Hi,

Thanks for this very helpful and detailed tutorial.

I tried to follow it, but I failed on the credentials point.

I tried either the "use credentials of the user currently signed in" option and the "use the following credentials" option without success: the verification always failed. I give the credentials according to my Mac settings.

The scanning on the printer starts well, but then the printer displays that it is cacelling the operation. And my destination folder remains empty.

I check two times the rights on the destination folder.

Could you please give me some hints?

Thanks

Hi @hdlbq,

If you are experiencing issues with scanning to a network folder on your HP printer, and you're receiving credential-related errors, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

  1. Verify Network Folder Path:

    • Double-check that the network folder path is correct and accessible from your Mac. Make sure that the folder is shared on the network with the appropriate permissions.
  2. Check Folder Permissions:

    • Ensure that the folder permissions are set to allow read and write access for the user credentials being used. On your Mac, right-click the folder, select "Get Info," and check the Sharing & Permissions to ensure that the settings allow the printer to write files to the folder.
  3. Use Correct Credentials:

    • Make sure you are using the correct username and password for the shared folder. The username often needs to include the computer's domain name (e.g., COMPUTERNAME\username).
  4. SMB Protocol Settings:

    • Some printers require the SMB (Server Message Block) protocol for network communication. Make sure your printer and Mac are configured to use compatible versions of the SMB protocol.
  5. Firewall and Network Security:

    • Check if your Mac firewall settings or any security software might be blocking the communication. Temporarily disable them to test if they are causing the issue.
  6. Update Printer Firmware:

    • Ensure that your HP printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates on the HP Support website for your specific printer model.
  7. Test the Network Connection:

    • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the same network as your Mac. Try scanning to a different device to see if the issue is isolated to the Mac.
  8. Restart Devices:

    • Sometimes, simply restarting your printer, router, and Mac can resolve connectivity issues.
