Hi @ram591

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must be to try installing that package and still not get scanning working. Thank you for already attempting the installation—your effort helps narrow down the situation.

Let’s go through a clear set of steps to get scanning working directly to your Windows 11 computer without relying on cloud services:

Step 1: Confirm Driver Installation

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Check if your printer is listed with full functionality (not just “basic”).
  3. If it only shows as a basic printer, reinstall the driver package by:
    • Disconnecting the USB cable (if applicable).
    • Uninstalling the printer from Devices and Printers.
    • Restarting the computer.
    • Reconnecting the printer and letting Windows Update fetch the driver automatically.

Step 2: Use Windows Built-in Scan Utility

  1. Press Windows + S and type Windows Fax and Scan.
  2. Open the app, select New Scan.
  3. Choose your printer/scanner from the list.
  4. Adjust scan settings (color, resolution, file type).
  5. Click Scan and save the file locally.

Step 3: Use “Scan” from Windows Settings

  1. Press Windows + S and type Scan.
  2. Open the Scan app (preinstalled in Windows 11).
  3. Select your printer/scanner.
  4. Choose file type and destination folder.
  5. Click Scan.

Step 4: Verify TWAIN/WIA Support

  • Many HP devices support WIA drivers which allow scanning through third-party apps like Paint, Photoshop, or even Microsoft Office.
  • To test: Open Paint > File > From Scanner or Camera. If your printer appears, scanning is supported without cloud services.

Step 5: Save Scans Locally

  • Ensure the destination folder is set to a local drive (e.g., Documents or Pictures).
  • Avoid network/cloud paths to keep scans stored directly on your PC.

This approach bypasses HP App cloud services entirely and uses Windows’ built-in scanning tools. If the installation package continues to fail, the built-in Windows drivers and utilities should still allow you to scan reliably.
