Scanjet G4050
macOS 10.15 Catalina

First of all I am using an iMAC running Mac OS 10.15.7

i have not used my Scanjet G4050 for 15 years (different MAC at the time), i have been traveling the USA, Canada and Mexico and could not use it.  I am not back into a brick & Mortar home.  I want to start using it again.  I do not have the drivers or software any longer, I have tried in vane.

Can I run my G4050 on my iMac using only the OS 10.15.7 by itself? Or, do I have to emulate a PC and run it from the PC emulation?

If I can run it all by itself on my iMac using only OS 10.15.7, where can I get the drivers and software "Image Capture" or the latest version. I have tried to use HP Easy Start version 2.12 it says it can not find the related items.  I have tried to use HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update, it loads but I really don't know what it has done.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Michael

Hi,

The scanner is compatible with macOS 10.14 or older versions, it is not supported on any later version.

You may either install its software on a virtual Windows OS, the scanner is supported on Windows 10 or older OS versions.

You may also let the 3rd party Vuescan software a try, it seems to support your scanner on its own with no need of any manufacturer driver, and seems to be compatible with Catalina:
