Our scanner no longer connects within HP smart however it works perfectly fine within other 3rd party apps, we have tried the following steps with no luck

  • Restarted the PC
  • Turned off the PC
  • Power cycled the PC
  • Changed electrical outlets
  • Tried it on a separate computers
  • Redownloaded HP smart
  • Downloaded EasyStart and tried that way
  • Uninstalled the printer via windows
  • Uninstalled the printer via HP Smart
  • Downloaded the latest drivers
  • Connected via Ethernet and not USB

 

Can you please let us know if there is anything else worth trying?

Hi,

 

HP Smart must not be used for this printer!

The following steps are only intended for a USB installation! The connection type with a LAN cable can be tightened later, after all tests.

 

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Disconnect printer/scanner from computer- Disable WLAN, WiFi and/or remove the USB or LAN cable.- Do not switch off the printer >> unplug the power cord from the socket!
  2. Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list. 
    completely uninstall HP Smart
  3. Restart the PC
  4. Close all programs
  5. download only this complete package: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fn/M132fn/M132fp and Ultra MFP M134fn Full Feature Software and Drivers 
    after downloading, read all information on this page, important!
  6. Close all programs
  7. Reconnect the printer to the power supply and switch it on (if this does not happen automatically)
    Via USB, means wait until the installation asks to connect the printer/scanner.
  8. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE,
    File name: Full_Webpack-44.11.2775-LJM129-M134_UW_4_1_Full_Webpack.exe (193.7 MB)
  9. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
  10. Restart the System again
  11. Now the installation is complete.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.

 

Can all functions of the printer now be used again?

Hello Andr-1611,

When you download the exe file and run it, HP Smart is automatically downloaded and installed on the computer and ends up giving me the exact same error message regarding the scanner. I also have another employee with the same exact issue. On friday she was able to scan (via HP Scan), and now as of this morning she's unable to scan and gets the exact same error message verbatim. 

So both employees can do everything except for scanning via HP Samrt. If they use 3rd part scanning programs then it works just fine, the issue is 100% specific to HP smart
