Hello. I installed with a USB connection and on Windows 11 the driver for HP Officejet Pro 7740. Printing is ok. Scanner is not recognised. Why. Please, if somebody is able to help me...

Thanks a lot in advance

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Officejet Pro 7740 printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

Reinstall with Full Drivers

  • Uninstall the existing printer software via Add or Remove Programs.
  • Download and install the latest full-feature drivers from 123.hp.com.

Reset USB Connection

  • Disconnect the USB cable from both the printer and computer.
  • Close the HP Smart app.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect the USB cable.

Try a Different USB Port

  • Connect the USB cable directly to a different port on the computer.
  • Preferably use a USB 2.0 port to avoid detection issues.

Check Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service

  • Search for “Services” in Windows.
  • Locate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  • Ensure it is Running and set to Automatic.

Try Windows Scan App

  • Download the Windows Scan app from the Microsoft Store.
  • Use it to verify if the scanner hardware is detected.

Update Windows

  • Run Windows Update to install the latest system and scanner driver components.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
