This is maybe the 3rd time my HP LaserJet color MFP M175nw has lost the ability to scan, and my wife scans daily so its a huge issue. I tried reinstalling the drivers and got a series of pop-ups saying that it failed... so after clearing them all out, I tried to uninstall the drivers with the HP driver tool. That did the same thing. I then found some suggestions around doing a clean boot (like safe mode) deleting any printer drivers, and then trying to delete within Print Sever Properties. I got a similar error..."Failed to remove driver HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175 PCL6. The specified printer driver is currently in use.
Failed to remove package hpcm100u.inf. Driver package is in use." Any suggestions?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Do you get any error message when you lose the ability to scan?

Restart the Computer to get rid of the error message you mentioned about.

Any issues with the copies?

Try a firmware updare: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Let me know if this helps.
