Hi @DjKei,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like there might be a communication issue between your printer and laptop when you're trying to scan a document. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that both your printer and laptop are connected to the same network.
  • If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that the Wi-Fi on both devices is enabled.

Verify Printer Settings:

  • Check if your printer is set up for scanning over the network. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to set up scanning.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your printer installed on your laptop. You can usually find the drivers on the HP website.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block communication between devices. Check your security software settings and ensure that they are not blocking the communication.

Restart Devices:

  • Power off both your printer and laptop, wait for a minute, and then power them back on. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

IP Configuration:

  • Check if your printer has a static IP address. If it does, make sure that the IP address is correctly configured and matches the network your laptop is on.

Network Discovery:

  • Make sure that network discovery is enabled on your laptop. This allows your laptop to discover devices on the same network.

Firewall and Ports:

  • Check if there are any specific firewall settings or port configurations required for scanning. Your printer's manual or support documentation should provide this information.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the printer software on your laptop and reinstall it. This ensures that all the necessary components are properly configured.

By going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with scanning from your printer to your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
