When my HP Officejet Pro 9015 starts up it shows this screen with the loading bar filling before freezing:

IMG_9762.jpeg

Afterwards the only thing that works is forcing it to shut down. The buttons don’t show up or work and it doesn't show up via Bluetooth, Wifi, or USB.

It started doing this after I tried to reset the machine to default through printer maintenance.

@AS9564, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 seems to be stuck in a boot loop or firmware crash state, which commonly happens after a factory reset or failed update. Here's what you can try to get it working again:

Try a Semi-Full Reset (Hidden Reset Mode)

This type of reset often works when the printer is unresponsive:

  1. Turn off the printer (unplug it if it’s frozen).
  2. Hold down these buttons together on the printer:
    • Back (or Return) button + Cancel (X) + Power (for some models).
    • If your model doesn’t have physical buttons, try tapping the lower-left corner of the touchscreen repeatedly after plugging in.
  3. Plug the printer back in while holding the buttons/tapping.
  4. Wait to see if a Reset Menu appears. If it does, choose "Semi-Full Reset" or "Reset to Factory Defaults."

🧰 If the Reset Menu Doesn’t Appear:

Try this recovery method:

🛠️ Firmware Recovery Mode

HP printers sometimes support a hidden recovery mode. Here’s how you can try it:

  1. Download the firmware update file for your printer model from HP’s official site:
HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 Drivers & Firmware.
  2. Connect the printer to your computer via USB cable.
  3. Power off the printer and hold down the 'Back' button (or tap the bottom left if there's no button).
  4. While holding/tapping, turn on the printer.
  5. Launch the firmware updater you downloaded and see if it detects the printer.
  6. If detected, proceed with the update. If not, unplug and retry steps 3–5.

🔄 Alternative Workaround

If nothing works:

  • Disconnect from Wi-Fi: If your printer keeps trying to connect to a network during startup, it may be hanging there. You can:
    • Power off the router temporarily.
    • Restart the printer and see if it boots past the frozen screen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
