@Calicotronico,

Good Day.  Thank you for posting your query in the HP community.  I read the post regarding assistance to clean the ink cartridges of the printer and requirement of the toolbox. I will be delighted to assist you here.

Superb description and s commendable diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that

For better clarity and to assist you accurately I would require more information regarding this:

  • Is the printer not working now?
  • Did you uninstall the printer’s software?
  • Did the printer’s software and drivers have the toolbox initially?
  • Do you have the CD for it?

For now, let me keep you posted about a few things here:

  • The records state that the printer is an old printer and has been retired by HP.
  • So the full feature software for this printer and the toolbox associated is not available.
  • Please refer to this article to know more information about HP product retired policy.

However, here's a step by step guide for you to manually clean it:

1. Open the top cover.

2. If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, press and hold resume button for 3 seconds. Wait for the carriage to stop moving, then, unplug the power cord from the printer.

3. Lift the printhead latch.

4. Lift the handle of the printhead (which corresponds to the blinking printhead light) and use it to pull the printhead out of its slot.

5. Obtain clean, dry, soft and lint-free cleaning material. Suitable materials include paper coffee filters and eyeglass lens cleaning paper.

Caution: Do Not Use Water.

I also did a lot of research to pull up useful information for you regarding the printer's user manual that would help a great deal.

Please refer to this link: https://hp.care/2vbbiKO which gives the user manual for the printer to manually clean and maintain the printer.

Refer to page 33 regarding this.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck and keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Cheers!
