I know this is a long shot, but I use a (very) old piece of software that I think came from an old HP camera.  It is HP Photosmart, Ver. 2.5.0.1.  It was a parcel of photo software, and incuded ACDSee as part of the package. This is quite old, likely 2000-2010 period.  I have lost the disk that had the install software and I am trying to recover from a computer crash.  Anyone have any idea where I could find a copy of the software?

Hi @Roborat,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

HP no longer provides downloads for HP Photosmart v2.5.0.1 or any of the older bundled photo software (including ACDSee) from the early 2000s. These programs were discontinued years ago and are not supported on modern operating systems.

What HP Recommends Instead

  • Use HP Smart for printing, scanning, and basic photo tasks.
    Download HP Smart
  • For photo editing and management, HP does not offer proprietary software anymore. We recommend using current OS tools or trusted third-party apps (Windows Photos, macOS Photos, etc.).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thanks for the response, I knew it was a long shot, but thought I would give it a try.  I am well aware it is not compatible with current operating systems, it is very buggy and hangs frequently.  But it worked well for making photo albums for my reports, and I haven't found anything better.  I had already looked into HP Smart, but it didn't seem to have what I was looking for, and I don't have an HP printer to register on my account, so I can't even download it to have a look.

Hi @Roborat

Yes, it is a long shot, because I am not sure if this is going to work with any modern Windows systems. 🤔

But you can try it...😇

In the next link you can download that software HP Photosmart Essential:

Thanks for your help with this.  I tried your suggestion, and the software does work, however there is no way to create an album with text, so it doesn't work for what I need.
