Hi, I am having an issue with the HP 2700 my friend gave me. She had instant ink and cancelled it, and I have new non instant ink cartridges in there but the printer will still not work. What can I do?

Hi @Devon86

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

When using non-Instant Ink cartridges after cancelling Instant Ink, your printer may display errors or stop working. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check for Errors:

  • Check the printer display for any error messages. If the printer displays an error, search for the error message on HP Customer Support.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer firmware is updated to the latest version. Sometimes firmware updates resolve compatibility issues with non-HP cartridges.

Reset Printer:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
  • Power the printer back on and see if the issue persists.

Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Remove the non-Instant Ink cartridges from the printer.
  • Clean the contacts on the cartridges with a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the cartridges, making sure they are seated properly in their respective slots.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Access your printer's Embedded Web Server using a web browser by entering the printer’s IP address.
  • Verify that the printer settings do not include any restrictions related to Instant Ink cartridges.

HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant to perform additional troubleshooting steps and diagnose the issue. Ensure you have the latest version installed.
