HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I know the HP 9135e is supposed to be able to print on card stock, but there's no choice for card stock shown for "Paper Type" on the Printer Preferences screen, or among the selections on the printer itself.

So how do I tell the printer I want to use card stock? What I have in mind is 67 lb (148 g/m sq) up to 110 lb (199 g/m sq).

HP 9135e doesn't support cardstock.

It supports card printing, but the card is not cardstock.

"Card stock" or "cardstock" are synonyms for "card." The specs for the 9135e printer clearly state that it's possible to print on such media with this printer.

My question is, when selecting a Paper Type, there's no choice available for "card" or "cardstock," so how does one choose to print on such media?

HP Recommended

If you have installed the correct printer driver, the following types of paper should be available to choose:

Card and cardstock are not the same, they might be synonyms but in HP point of view those two are very different.
Cardstock will jam, and if you manage somehow to make it feed it can only damage the printer.

OK, perhaps HP distinguishes between "card" and the customary definition of "cardstock."

But, yes, I have the correct driver installed, and no option for "card" appears on a any screen (or on the console)  as a selection for "paper type."

What you are showing is part of the spec PDF that led me to buy this printer, because I thought I would be able to print on cards of the weights shown. But I can't do that when there's no option for "card" on any of the Paper Type selection screens. (And, again, though you suggested otherwise, I DO have the correct driver for the 9135e.)

Can you print screen and post here all paper types you have in a dropdown menu for your printer?

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.

I've been trying to post this message since yesterday.  😶

We had a glitch (reported to admins) that is supposed to have finally been repaired.

Dragon Opinion

The printer should print on the paper you describe as long as the paper is a supported paper size, is white or off-white, contains a smooth print surface, and is within the weight class you mentioned (200 gsm or less).

Short Version Answer

Set the Paper Size / Type in EWS first,

Follow up with setting same / similar paper type (as close as can be done) in the job configuration.

Example Paper Types to try:

Brochure Matte / Professional or Thick for the heavier 200 gsm "Index" card paper.

Select Paper Size / Type - Tray and Paper -

Use the Printer Control Panel right after changing the paper size / type or after opening and then closing the paper intake tray

OR

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to view / adjust the Tray and Paper Settings

Suggestions

Set Paper Type for your card paper to "Matte Brochure / Professional"  if paper is 180 gsm or less

and / or

Set Paper type for your card paper to "Thick" for Index / card paper 200gsm / 110lb

After Tray and Paper settings are checked / adjusted,

Leave the Paper Type in Printing Preferences / Properties  settings as Plain Paper or match as best can be done to the Tray and Paper settings.

True - Printing Preferences / Properties - and Tray and Paper are frequently not an exact match.

I will try some of what you suggest, if I can figure it all out.

But I have to say that this all seems like an extraordinarily complex and time-consuming process for a printer owner who only, occasionally, wants to print a few pages on card stock.

My opinion --

If you are only going to try "some", do at least set the Tray and Paper settings for the printer.

I'm not sure you can do one side (printer) without completing the other side (selecting paper size / type in job setup), but at least of the paper size / type is set on the printer, you will be half way there.

I've added a print-card example later in this message.

Yes, setting Tray and Paper AND having to set paper size / type in the job configuration is more work than wanted.

We have definitely heard similar comments before -

"Printer should detect the paper and know what I want" or similar.

----------------------------------------------------------------

What to do?

Tray and Paper

Use the Printer Control Panel right after having changed the paper or opening / closing the tray.

OR

Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) as described.

Next,

Print the content as wanted, checking / setting Paper Size / Type as necessary to complete the task.

Samples

Example - EWS - Tray and Paper

In this particular instance where settings are other than "standard" to print on card paper,

Setting the Default Print Options is perhaps less important.

Default Print Options setting can impact certain jobs / tasks.
