HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

We have an old Officejet Pro 8610 that is protected with an admin username/password. The printer has sat unused for a number of years, and the credentials in our records don't work, nor does anyone remember them. I think I'll need to do a semi-full reset on it to reset network parameters.

I was hoping to get a response from HP with a link to the procedure to perform the semi-full reset.

    Hello ABCarr1 ,

Here's the solution from Jay:

Let's perform a semi -full reset on the printer, the reset will restore the printer to default settings.

  • Press the Power button to turn the Printer On.
  • Press BL, BL, BL, BL (Bottom left icon. The “return” icon which may not be highlighted. Look very closely to find it and tap on it 4 times) Buttons, in sequence.
  • Touch Support Menu.
  • Select Reset Menu and Touch OK.
  • Select Semi-Full Reset and Touch OK.
  •  Wait for the unit to Power Down/Turn Off.
  • Press the Power button to turn the Printer ON

And some observations from me:

  • You can use a flashlight to help locate the control panel's BL (Bottom Left) button ("Return" icon) when not illuminated; you'll see the symbol through the dark panel.
  • Unless you have changed the Sound Effects Volume from its default, you'll hear a click every time you successfully tap the BL button. This will really help.
  • The "Missing or failed printhead" screen will quickly pop up, interfering with your ability to perform the steps above. You'll need to be quick after you press the Okay onscreen button or control panel's Home TL button. Eventually, you'll get into the Support menu.

            Excellent Day.
