HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded the firmware and now the printer continually errors with Service code 79 and re-initialises. The firmware upgrade has rendered the printer useless across the network.

I have dialed IPv6 from config as suggested but does not help.    I have dosabled WiFi and have printer plugged into network.  Printer is allocated IP address amd hostname (on printer)  Can't ping either address.

After updating the firmware version  (20190401) the printer would log error and continually re-initialise.  I completed the same  solutions suggested in many of the forums without success.  (restart, disable IPv6 etc).

I looged a support request with HP and the problem was solved by

  1. On you PC go to "Services"  ( run services.msc).  Look for Print Spooler and STOP/(re-)START this service (use right mouse click)
  2. Remove all network cables from the printer.
  3. On printer start up/power on, press and hold (touch) the bottom right of screen.  Continue holding for about a minute until message "permanent storage init" is displayed. (the printer then resets all NVRAM).
  4. On the printer menu go to Setup Menu > Network Setup > Restore Defaults.

Restart printer.  Plug cable in (or turn WiFi ON and configure).  My printer then identified and alloacted IP Address (DHCP) and allocated an Pv6 address.

I am now able to print and scan over the network.  ( I reinstalled the HP Scan and capture App to achieve remote scanning as the app wouldn't start)
