HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer will not connect to WIFI or allow direct connection. It only works with USB. I am a home user so it shouldn't be this complicated with directly connected to the router via ethernet and WIFI tried. I can't print or scan any way apart from connecting via USB.

I can't turn on anyservices or update the firmware because the service is not available all the time

Hi @Rameez-elite,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "Service not available, try again later" on an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw typically indicates that the printer is experiencing a temporary communication issue with the network or the connected devices. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.

  • Check Network Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the network and has a stable internet connection. You can try printing a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to verify its connectivity.
  • Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Restart Router/Modem: If the printer's connection is wireless or network-based, try restarting your router or modem to ensure there are no connectivity problems from the network side.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any available firmware updates for the printer. Visit HP's official website and enter your printer's model number to find the latest firmware version. Updating the firmware can fix bugs and improve performance.
  • Clear Print Jobs: There might be a stuck print job causing the error. Access the printer's control panel, go to the print queue, and clear any pending print jobs.
  • Check for Error Codes: If there is an error code along with the message, note it down and refer to the printer's user manual or HP's support website to find the specific troubleshooting steps for that error code.
  • Reset Network Settings: If the printer's network settings seem to be the issue, you can try resetting the network settings to default and then reconfigure the connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

t may be that your printer does not have correct NS settings and therefore cannot find the servers required. That would be a result of the settings that your router gives to theprinter when connected. I would suggest that you ensure that your router is assigning at least the secondary DNS address as 8.8.8.8 to ensure the printer can locate websites on the internet.
