Hi @crazyrunner,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To set your HP printer to print in draft mode by default, you'll need to adjust the printer's default settings either through the printer's driver settings on your computer or through the HP Smart app if you're using it. Here's how you can do it:

For Windows

Open Printer Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP printer and select Printing preferences.

Adjust Print Quality:

  • In the Printing Preferences window, look for a section labeled Print Quality or Paper/Quality.
  • Select Draft or Economy mode from the options provided.

Set as Default:

  • After selecting Draft mode, click Apply or OK to save the settings.
  • These settings will now be applied to all future print jobs from this printer.

For macOS

Open Printer Preferences:

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP printer from the list on the left.

Open Print Dialog:

  • Click Options & Supplies and then the Driver tab (or go directly to the print dialog for a document).

Adjust Print Settings:

  • In the print dialog, select Quality & Media or a similar option.
  • Choose Draft mode or Economy mode.

Save as Default:

  • Once you've selected Draft mode, you might need to click Presets and choose Save Current Settings as Preset. Give it a name and select Use preset for new documents.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
