The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer. If this problem persists, replace the cartridges. The cyan set up ink cartridge sends the above error message.

Hi @SBrown61,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your cyan setup ink cartridge is not communicating correctly with your printer and you're receiving that error message, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Reinstall the Cartridge: Remove the cyan setup ink cartridge from the printer and then reinsert it firmly into the correct slot. Sometimes, poor contact can cause communication errors.

Check for Obstructions: Ensure there are no obstructions or debris blocking the cartridge contacts or the corresponding contacts within the printer.

Clean Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer. Be careful not to touch the nozzles or other sensitive areas of the cartridge.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues.

Update Firmware: Check if there's any firmware update available for your printer model. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues and improve communication with ink cartridges.

Try a Different Cartridge: If you have another cyan setup ink cartridge available, try using it to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem lies with the cartridge itself or with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
