Hi @Julia194

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how important it is to get your OfficeJet Pro 9730e set up smoothly, and how frustrating it can feel when you’re eager to start printing but aren’t sure where to begin.

Let’s walk through the setup process step by step so everything feels seamless.

Initial Printer Setup

Unpack and prepare the printer

  • Remove all packaging materials, tapes, and protective films.
  • Place the printer on a flat, stable surface near your computer and power source.

Install ink cartridges and load paper

  • Open the cartridge access door and insert the supplied cartridges until they click into place.
  • Load plain paper into the input tray, adjusting the paper guides snugly.

Power on the printer

  • Connect the power cord and press the power button.
  • Follow the on‑screen prompts to set language, region, date, and time.

Connecting to Your Computer (Windows 10/11)

Download and install the HP App

  • On your computer, go to the Microsoft Store and install the HP App.
  • This replaces HP Smart and is the easiest way to manage your printer.

Add your printer

  • Open the HP App.
  • Select Add Printer and follow the prompts.
  • You can connect via Wi‑Fi or USB cable depending on your setup.

Complete driver installation

  • The app will automatically download the latest drivers and firmware.
  • Once installed, print a test page to confirm everything is working.

Mobile Device Setup

  1. Install the HP App from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
  2. Open the app, select Add Printer, and connect using Wi‑Fi.
  3. You can now print, scan, and manage settings directly from your phone.

Once these steps are complete, your printer should be ready to deliver crisp prints and smooth scanning. Would you like me to also share how to configure default print preferences in Windows, so you don’t have to adjust settings like color or duplex every time you print?
