Margins for printing on standard 8.5x11 paper are set as 1" on all sides. How do I change this setting? Printing does not let any type to print within 1" of top or bottom which is necessary for headers and footers. Thank you.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Margins for documents are set in the original document.

The printer does not support Borderless:

Borderless PrintingNo

The printer requires a larger margin along the bottom edge.

If the content is printed in Landscape, the larger margin moves to the side.

Print Margin Bottom (A4)12.7 mm
Print Margin Left (A4)3 mm
Print Margin Right (A4)3 mm
Print Margin Top (A4)3 mm

There is no software or app "workaround" to the limitations.

Depending on the Operating System and the app or printer software used, PDF printing can be set to "Shrink to Fit" which will generally force the content into the boundaries of paper size.

In the original document, set the bottom margin to no less than 1/2 inch.

For even margins on all sides, set the Margins in Word to "Narrow".

Trouble with labels and possibly with other documents that include mixed content types:

Document Scale

There is a setting in Word that will "scale" a document for Letter / A4 paper.

If you are having alignment issues with your document (for example, labels, bottom of page chopped), UNCHECK this setting.

When printing directly from within Word

Setup:

Word > FileOptions > Advanced

In Section Print (about 2/3 of the way down)

UNCHECK "Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" paper sizes

Click OK to save changes
