Just setup my new HP Officejet 7440 printer - connected via ethernet. Followed the instruction to connect to 123hp giving my name, printer model and phone number - got a fatal error message and message - Printer driver installation has been failed due to fatal error “C0000022” preventing product driver installation. You will get a call from our support representative shortly, on screen message included - If you cannot wait we recommend you to contact our chat support now. Chat was available, but an HP guy phoned me immediately. Asked to connect remotely. Is this normal? His final suggestion was for me to agree to a third party engineer to visit my home and fix my Windows 11 errors. I politely ended the call. A friend has told me this is not the first time he has heard of this happening (With a new Canon printer also). Every check of my PC is saying all is well. Was this call a genuine HP representative as I was led to believe?

Thanks for your help Valsimot.
The page used was:
https://123-hp.printercustomercares.com/123hp-loading/
It looks like I made a mistake using google to enter the URL rather than type directly into the address bar.
Therefore it looks like I had a call with a scammer?
Regards
David

HP will never call you unlesss you contact them first. Sounds like you typed the url address incorrrectly. This is a scam website designed to trick you into thinking your drivers are not working.

I did make a mistake with the URL, but was unaware of this type of scam, which was initially an issue for some unsuspecting new Canon printer owners. There are a lot of unfortunate stories online. It sounds like the scammers have since moved on to target new HP printer owners. Thanks.
