Can’t get my new HP9015e printer to recognize the set up ink cartridges

When setting up a new HP 9015e printer, it's essential to use the setup ink cartridges provided with the printer. These cartridges are specifically designed to initialize the printer.

 

Open the Ink Cartridge Access Door:

  • Lift the top cover or access panel to access the ink cartridges.

Install Setup Ink Cartridges:

  • Remove each setup ink cartridge from its packaging.
  • Ensure that you carefully use the provided pull tabs to remove any protective tapes.
  • Insert the black setup ink cartridge first, followed by the color cartridges.

Confirm Secure Installation:

  • Make sure each cartridge clicks into place correctly.
  • Check that each cartridge matches the corresponding slot color and symbol.

Check for Errors:

  • Power on the printer and let it run its initialization process.
  • If your printer still doesn't recognize the cartridges, power off the printer, then power it on again to reset.

Quality Control:

  • After ensuring each cartridge is securely installed, print a test page or alignment page to guarantee that the printer identifies and utilizes the setup cartridges.

Troubleshooting Tips:

Recap Unrecognized Cartridges:

  • If the setup ink cartridges are still not recognized, remove and inspect them for any remnants of tape covering the ink ports, then reinstall them.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date, as sometimes recognition issues can be solved with a firmware update.

Check Network and Setup Connections:

  • Make sure that the setup process and cartridges are being verified correctly by connecting your printer to a consistent network and using the HP Smart App.
