I'm running a MacBook Air M3 and had been using my HP 3301 just fine. Then this week it suddenly became inaccessible. I tried removing the printer and re-adding it with HP Smart from the Mac App Store. It found the printer but it doesn't add it to the list of printers under System Settings. If I try to add it under System Settings I have to add it using the IP address as an AirPrint device. Installing it any other way will cause it to not find the HP 3301 driver. Even though I have HP Smart installed it's like it doesn't see the printer driver any more. This lets me print but I can't use the scanner. I tried running the HP Smart Diagnostic and it shows this error message:
Driver Check issue not fixed
I've tried the following:
- Hide the printer in HP Smart and re-add it.
- Reset the printing system on the Mac
but I can't get it to install the HP driver again. Appreciate any help. I should add that this works fine from another MacBook running MacOS 15.3.1.

While I don't have definitive proof, my corporate IT team did confirm that the ports used by Bonjour are blocked by the local firewall running on my work MacBook. This must be a recent change because it was working but isn't now. At least I was able to get basic printing access going. I don't know if there's anything HP could do to allow me to install the full printer/scanner driver separately but for now I'll take basic operation over no operation.
