Should I return my printer?

HP Recommended
HP 2722e

Tried to setup a new 2722e printer, came with 6 months free instant ink, during setup it told me to register for my free 6 months ink, however all HP instant ink servers went down during setup for maintenance on 13/10/21. Servers back up but only offering 2 months ink free, should I return to Argos whilst I still have time?

Welcome to the HP Community.

You can certainly return the printer if the return window is open at the Merchant.

That said, I don't think it is necessary if the only issue is signing up for HP+ and setting the extended Instant Ink Trial.

Whatever is going on with HP+ and the Instant Ink Trial can be sorted.

Below is the information.

Check the box...

And - If found, Check and read the leaflet included in the box..

Does the information say that

HP+ service is required to qualify for the extended Instant Ink Trial?

If Yes...

Generally, the documents and websites do a better job explaining this...

Here goes...

What to do?

  • Wait here for one of our Community agents to find your request and respond.  Not always fast - usually works.

  • First, if you wish to do so:  Activate HP+

Trouble? Contact HP+ Concierge Support and ask for help to register your printer with HP+

  • Next, if you wish to do so: Sign up for an Instant Ink subscription (trial period).

Trouble?  Contact Instant Ink Support in your Region - Information provided later in this message

Please see the correct and latest information available at the HP+ website

Interpretation of the information at the website...

HP+ and the Extended Instant Ink subscription trial

HP+ is related to Instant Ink in the sense that signing up for HP+ provides for an Extended Trial period of the Instant Ink subscription plan,

HP+ - What is it?

There are limitations, benefits, responsibilities when you choose HP+ service.

For example, at this writing, HP+:

  • HP+ includes an extended (longer) Warranty on your printer
  • Requires that you always use HP genuine ink cartridges in the printer - Again, this is not "Instant Ink" - the requirement is that you use HP branded ink
  • The printer must be connected to the Internet to allow monitoring by the HP+ Service
  • HP+ service includes Concierge Service - with extra setup help and assistance
