Hi @LindaO3,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When a printer's dialog options change suddenly and limit functionality (such as removing the ability to choose between color or black & white, or to select print quality), it can be due to various factors, including driver updates, changes in printer settings, or issues with the printer software. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue with your Smart Tank 615 printer on Windows 10:
1. Check Printer Preferences
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your Smart Tank 615 printer and select Printing Preferences.
- Look for options related to color settings and print quality. Ensure they are set correctly.
2. Update Printer Drivers
- Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause issues. To update:
- Go to the Device Manager.
- Find your printer under Print queues or Printers, right-click it, and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the prompts.
- Alternatively, visit the HP website, search for your printer model, and download the latest drivers.
3. Reinstall Printer Drivers
- If updating doesn't help, try reinstalling:
- In Devices and Printers, right-click your printer and select Remove device.
- Restart your computer.
- Reinstall the printer from the HP website or use the CD that came with the printer.
4. Check the HP Smart App
- HP printers often work better with the HP Smart app. If you haven't already, download and install the app from the HP website or Microsoft Store.
- Check if the app provides the missing options and try printing from there.
5. Reset Printer Settings
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Information button for 5 seconds until all control panel buttons turn on. Open ink access door. Press and hold the Information and Cancel buttons for 3 seconds. After about 20 seconds, close the ink access door.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
