My Smart tank 7000 series printer P/N: 28B50A will print fine connected to my home WiFi system using my HP Galaxy Tablet, but when I try printing from my HP Laptop same WIFI setup at home it will start printing gibberish and will keep printing until the paper tray is exhausted. I have used the HP Print Doctor and have deleted and reinstalled the software to no avail.

Hi @Dustyoldbones,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be a communication issue between your HP laptop and the HP Smart Tank 7000 series printer when it comes to printing. This could be due to a variety of reasons, ranging from driver issues to network settings. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.
Basic Troubleshooting Steps:
Check Printer Settings:
- Ensure that the paper size, orientation, and type settings on your laptop match the settings on the printer.
- Check the print preview on your laptop before printing to see if it shows gibberish. This can give clues about what's going wrong.
Printer Drivers:
- Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your laptop. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues.
- You can download the latest drivers from the HP website specifically for your printer model.
Network Connection:
- Verify that both your laptop and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Try restarting both your printer and laptop, as well as your Wi-Fi router.
Advanced Steps:
Reset Printer:
- Reset the printer to its factory settings. This can sometimes clear up persistent issues.
- Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
Network Configuration:
- Check if there are any IP address conflicts on your network.
- Assign a static IP address to your printer to ensure it always has the same address on your network.
Firewall/Antivirus:
- Sometimes, security software can interfere with printing. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and see if the issue persists.
Print Spooler:
- Clear the print spooler on your laptop. Sometimes, print jobs get stuck and cause subsequent jobs to print incorrectly.
- Search for "Services" in your Windows search bar, find "Print Spooler," right-click, and choose "Stop." Then, delete the contents of the C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS folder.
Reinstall Printer:
- Completely uninstall the printer software from your laptop.
- Disconnect the printer from your laptop.
- Reboot your laptop.
- Reinstall the printer software and reconnect the printer when prompted.
Test with Different Software:
- Try printing from a different program on your laptop. Sometimes, issues can be software-specific.
Notes:
- Always ensure you have a backup of important documents before attempting major changes to your system.
Hopefully, these steps help resolve the issue and get your printer working correctly with your HP laptop!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
