Hi @Lcp1234 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing a printhead error with your new HP Smart Tank 5106 All-in-One Printer. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:
1. Check Printhead Installation
- Ensure that the printheads are installed correctly. Sometimes, even a slight misalignment can cause the printer to display an error.
- Remove the printheads and reinsert them carefully. Make sure they click into place securely.
2. Clean the Printheads and Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the printer cover to access the printheads.
- Remove the printheads and inspect the electrical contacts on both the printheads and the printer.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the contacts.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the printheads.
3. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
4. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility and error issues.
- You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.
5. Run the Printer's Diagnostic Tool
- Use the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel to run a diagnostic test.
- Follow any instructions provided by the diagnostic tool to resolve the error.
