Hello, I have an issue with the printer Deskjet Ink Advant K209a-z. Since the Mac software update in Nov 2020 I cannot print. When I uninstall and re-install the printer, then then try to print I see the following error message:
This printer requires appropriate software to be installed. To install it, select App Store from the Apple menu. If your printer’s software is not available in the App Store, contact the manufacturer of the printer.
MacOS version: 11.5.2 Big Sur
I have the printer installed and functional on another computer, where the driver version is: 3.3.2.
Please kindly assist with this issue, it’s really frustrating not to be able to use this printer since Nov 2020. If it’s not possible to resolve it, I’m afraid I will buy a new printer but it won’t be HP for sure.
Regards,
Magdalena

@MagPol, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
This printer is not AirPrint compatible and has no printer driver available on the HP Support site to work on macOS 11 due to its age.
Also, this printer does not support the HP Smart app too on a Mac.
For more info on this issue, refer to this document.
However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.
NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
