I have had an Officejet J4660 series All-in-One printer for a long time. I bought it in 2008 and it is still in perfect condition. However, after changing my desktop and operating system (I had it installed on Win 7), I was unable to install the printer. When I try to install it via USB, the PC simply does not recognize it or identify the printer (Win 11). With great difficulty, I found the HP Print and Scan Doctor program. The program recognizes the printer in step 1. In step 2, it asks to "get the installer" for the driver using the button, which opens an HP website. In the "Enter the serial number, product number, or name of your product" section, my printer appeared, but it says discontinued. This is bad for consumers like me, who bought the product and after a while it was already discontinued (in my research I found several drivers for other old printers). My printer is in very good condition, if it were up to me, I would still be using it for a long time. I would like to know if there is a place where the driver and installer can be downloaded. I have the documentation for my printer, and I even have the installation CD, but my most modern and current equipment does not come with a CD drive. It is inexplicable that a product (and a great product), even after a few years of use, that is still working perfectly, and that still has ink cartridges available for purchase, can no longer work because the brand itself removed a simple file of a few MB from its website. I tried the technical support that is already programmed with an AI, but I didn't get any coherent answer to solve my problem and there is nothing else about this printer on the website. Please, I need help to be able to use my printer. I can't buy another printer because there is no driver. The support team told me to try here on the forum, where I could find someone specialized who could solve my problem. Below is the guidance they gave me: (In this case, Juarez, the best thing to do is to contact the HP forum, where we have technicians who help with products with expired warranty. For equipment that is more than a year old, please contact the HP forum agents using the link below, which is the support channel for out-of-warranty products. There, you can create an account, post your question and wait for our technicians to get back to you: https://h30487.www3.hp.com/) I look forward to your help here on the forum

@Jubaomk, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing with your HP Officejet J4660 All-in-One Printer on your new Windows 11 system. While HP has discontinued support for this model, there are still ways to get it functioning on your current setup.

You can download the necessary drivers from HP's official website:

Installation Steps:

Download the Driver:

  • Visit the HP support page.
  • Select your previous operating system (e.g., Windows 7 or 😎 to access the available drivers.
  • Download the full feature driver package.

Install in Compatibility Mode:

  • Locate the downloaded driver file.
  • Right-click on the file and select 'Properties.'
  • Navigate to the 'Compatibility' tab.
  • Check the box for 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and choose the operating system the driver was intended for (e.g., Windows 7).
  • Click 'Apply' and then 'OK.'
  • Run the installer as an administrator by right-clicking the file and selecting 'Run as administrator.'

Alternative Solutions:

Windows Built-in Drivers: Windows 11 may have generic drivers that support basic printing functions for older printers. To check:

  • Connect your printer to the PC via USB.
  • Go to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Printers & scanners.'
  • Click on 'Add a printer or scanner' and see if Windows detects your printer.
  • If detected, follow the on-screen instructions to install.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
