I thought software was already installed on my 2800e printer so ready to go. Then I find I needed to go to 123.hp.com to install softwear confusing!
An error message came up B100 B200 then an advisor called me offering to fix the problem for a one off fee. I refused to pay as it is a brand new printer and the softwear should be on it anyway, seems like a scam to me. This is supposed to be an easy set up far from it can anyone help please.

@LbHammer, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP software issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
The HP DeskJet 2800e series doesn’t come with the software pre-installed, which is why you need to download it from 123.hp.com. This ensures you have the latest drivers and features for the best performance.
As for the error messages B100 and B200, those aren’t standard HP error codes, so it’s possible the message came from a third-party source. If someone called you unexpectedly offering a fix for a fee, you were absolutely right to be cautious—it does sound like a scam. HP never charges for setting up a new printer.
Here’s what I recommend:
Restart Everything – Turn off your printer, unplug it for about a minute, and restart your computer.
Download & Install the Official Software – Go to 123.hp.com and follow the setup instructions.
Check for Connection Issues – If it’s a Wi-Fi setup, make sure your printer and computer are connected to the same network.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor – This free tool from HP can diagnose and fix common printer issues. You can download it here.
If you’re still having trouble, let me know what step you’re stuck on, and I’ll be happy to help.
Looking forward to getting your printer up and running! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
